FATHER OF THE OWL
Sam Larson is a long time friend of James Coffee and the creator of our iconic owl logo. Originally from rural Wisconsin, Sam has spent the better part of his life chasing the wanderlust spirit of the American west. Working as an independent artist, freelance designer, and small business owner. From his origins in San Diego, to Portland, Oregon, to Salt Lake City, Kansas City, and beyond. All the while running and operating his own small business, Steel Bison. Creating beautiful and one of kind art pieces that are reminiscent of the Wild West and retro Americana. Sam is a creative force to be reckoned with and we are so stoked to finally bring this partnership to life and showcase the "father of the owl."
Sam and David first met when Sam was working in the art department for Macbeth Footwear and right across the hall was the Angels & Airwaves practicing studio. With a mutual appreciation for art, music, and soon to be coffee a long standing friendship was imminent. Staying in touch after Sam's departure with Macbeth David sought out Sam's creative talents to create the ever present and triumphant Owl logo that would begin the James Coffee Co. lore. Just about 15 years later, we give you the Sam Larson x James Coffee Co. collection.
