Full Circle Cleaning

Full Circle Cleaning

People always ask us "What makes the coffee I make at home taste different than what I get at the shop?"

One of the main things we always ask is how they are cleaning their brewing equipment. Cleanliness is one of the most important aspects in making a delicious cup of coffee and it is regularly overlooked.

Full Circle™ makes a line of cleaning products that we use regularly in our shop to keep everything tasting great! They are all Biodegradable, Phosphate Free, and Odorless.

Here's a breakdown of what each product can do for you!

Espresso Machine Milk Cleaning Liquid breaks down build up from milk proteins and fats that stick to your coffee brewing equipment.

Coffee and Espresso Descaling Powder helps remove calcium and minerals that can clog water flow and effect overall coffee quality.

Grinder Cleaning Tablets are an easy way to remove the coffee residue and oil stuck in your coffee grinder that leads to bitter tasting coffee.

Coffee Machine Cleaning Powder is an easy to use concentrated formula that cleans away oily residue that can lead to bitter tasting coffee and unnecessary wear on machines.

Espresso Machine Cleaning Tablets are specially formulated tablets that clean away oil and residue inside the fully automatic machine that can lead to bitter tasting coffee.

DecafNation - The Process of Decafinating Coffee

DecafNation - The Process of Decafinating Coffee

Imagine coffee sans caffeine, without sacrificing the quality. The Swiss Water Process creates the opportunity for roasters like us to offer a by-the-cup experience, even with decaf coffee.

Swiss Water Process uses the elements of water, temperature and time to create some of the most intriguing decaf coffee.

We’d like to say the process is very simple, but in order for such a complex process to be achieved — Swiss Water Process has a very precise set of steps that seamlessly work together to create this amazing bean, a no caffeine bean. We’re here to hold your hand through it while we outline how it works.

The Process

The beans start in the green coffee silo. Green coffee beans are simply beans that have not yet been roasted. These pre-roasted beans head into a pre-cleaning where foreign matter is removed. Next up is the pre-soak where the beans expand by 100%. This prepares them for the extraction.

The beans are now in coffee columns where the caffeine lean green coffee (GCE)  extract flows into the coffee columns kicking off the extraction process. GCE lets caffeine venture out until the ratio of soluble compound in the GCE to the compounds in the coffee reach a point of equilibrium. This is the end of the line for caffeine.

The now decaf coffee is sent to the dryer for an evaporative drying process where moisture is converted into vapor and removed. This chemical-free decaffeination process takes approximately 10 hours.

Those behind this process are dedicated to simply coaxing caffeine out of the bean, while letting roasters all over the world artfully craft the roast they (and you) desire. You can late night sip without the “wired” consequences.

DecafNation

Now that you understand that the flavor and character of the coffee remains untouched, are you ready? DecafNation is available at James Coffee Co. for $15.00 with a full body, sweet aroma, going down clean and smooth. Roasted in San Diego, CA.

San Diego Magazine: Wake Up And Smell the Coffee

As American coffee culture moves past the nonfat vanilla lattes toward a more elevated brew (imagine a cuppa so artfully crafted that it’s meant to stand on its own, black, without the cream), San Diego is right on trend. Local roasters are raising the bar and finding that the competition is fierce.

James Coffee Co. Honduras El Cañal "Pacas" & "Catimor" | Direct Trade

"I don't really have the words to describe what having a direct connection and relationship with where the coffee comes from means to me. I just don't have the words... What I can say is that it's an incredibly eye opening experience to be there (El Cañal), to shake the hands of those who are actually responsible for what is in our cups back here at home... How even being so far away from there, not just physically, but culturally, we can positively effect their lives. It's truly an exhilarating and real partnership "
- David Kennedy, James Coffee Co.

We're excited to say that after a long journey from the mountainous region of Santa Barbara, Honduras, our direct trade from El Cañal will be available for purchase online and in our Little Italy location today 09.10.15. This year we were able to split both varietals from El Cañal: "Pacas" and "Catimor".

Honduras El Cañal “Pacas”

Direct Trade/James Coffee’s own
Coffee Type: Arabica
Variety: Pacas
Region: Santa Barbara
Altitude: 1550-1580 meters above sea level
Tasting Notes: Buttery body, concord grape, dried apricot, juicy sweet finish Processing Method: Washed, patio dried
Availability: 12oz Bags & Pour Overs

Honduras El Cañal “Catimor”

Direct Trade/James Coffee’s own Coffee
Type: Arabica
Variety: Catimor
Region: Santa Barbara
Altitude: 1550-1580 meters above sea level
Tasting Notes: Clean vibrant, cranberry, tangerine, orange blossom aroma, maple syrup body
Processing method: Washed, patio dried
Availability: 12oz Bags & Pour Overs

This year our El Cañal "Catimor" varietal scored so high that it is just as amazing as the "Pacas" blend. We recommend trying both side by side.

This is our third season in partnership with El Cañal and couldn't be more pleased with how the crop turned out. Come down to our Little Italy location to share a cup with us or cheers us online by purchasing a bag of your own.

Salud!
