A year and a half in the making, we are proud to present our first ever, Wine Barrel Aged coffee. In collaboration with our very good friends Bivium Wine's Petite Sirah and our single-origin Tanzania we have created an incredibly unique tasting coffee.
Bivium Wine is owned by long time friend, collaborator, and Angels & Airwaves manager Jimmy Throgmorton. Ever since Jimmy began Bivium Wine, we knew we wanted to create something special together. Something that was outside the scope of musical collaboration, touring, recording, etc. The perfect solidification of friendship comes this awesome new product we are stoked to share with you. Meshing Jimmy's passion for wine with David's love for coffee.
Bivium wine sent us a barrel from the Seguin Moreau Cooperage. The barrel is an Icone elegance (medium-long traditional toast), the barrel was used once and the wine was aged for 26 months. The aromatics from this specific barrel are baking spices, sweet tobacco, and vanilla. We then took that barrel and allowed our Shilanga Tanzania green coffee to soak up all of those aromatics and notes pre-roasting. What you get in the final cup is something entirely unqiue. Not quite wine, not quite coffee. But something new, fun, and interesting.
This coffee smells like cracking open a fresh bottle of wine as the coffee brewer just finished making a fat pot. It takes on the notes of blackberry, green tea, tart lime, chocolate, and vanilla.
