What are tasting notes?
The tasting notes that you’ll find on our website and on our packaging are what we taste when we brew and drink the coffee. It is a way to describe nuances in each coffee, like brightness, sweetness, and body.
Do you ship pre-ground coffee?
We only ship whole bean coffee. We want you to have the best possible coffee experience and freshly ground coffee is an essential component. Coffee will taste best when ground immediately before brewing. Coffee starts to oxidize once you grind it, which accelerates the aging process.
How do I brew coffee?
There are infinite ways to brew coffee! Depending on your taste preferences, some brewing methods will resonate more with you than others. For our recommendations, check out our brewing tips video or our blog.
How long is the shelf life?
We recommend drinking your bagged coffee within 4 weeks of the roasting date. The coffee will not spoil after this date, but it will lose the amazing aromas and flavors.
How do I store your coffee?
Grind only the amount of coffee you plan to brew and store the remainder in an airtight container, away from direct sunlight, heat, and sources of humidity. We suggest that you avoid storing coffee in a fridge or freezer. Moving beans in and out of the freezer every time you make coffee can introduce moisture to the beans, resulting in potential mold growth and degradation of the coffee.

Please allow 24 – 48 hours to get your order out the door! We roast coffee every weekday to order. We have set up a system to get the freshest coffee shipped to our customers as soon as possible. We ship via United States Postal Service. Domestic orders typically arrive in 1- 5 business days after shipment, depending on the distance from our warehouse in San Diego, CA. We will send you a notification when your order has shipped. We are not responsible, liable, or obligated to reship or refund the cost of any packages that are mis-delivered, stolen or Returned-to-Sender. Upon receipt of a returned package, we will contact the customer to determine the reason for the return. We can then reship the package, provided new shipping charges incurred are paid for in full by the customer.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship to most countries! Please note that we are not responsible for any taxes and/or duties on packages delivered to you. The recipient is the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the destination. Orders shipped outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches the recipient's country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be fulfilled by the recipient; James Coffee has no control over these charges, nor can James Coffee predict what they may be.
